While still heavily influenced by their big brother in the east, the East Germans simply couldn’t help themselves but be German and say “what if we could make our uniforms more complicated for the lulz?” So they adopted Strichtarn, contrasting to the dull & gray uniforms from over the wall. The now-iconic “rain” pattern was originally developed in Warsaw-Pact Poland, and became a highly proliferated camo in Czechoslovakia & Bulgaria as well.

While somewhat ineffective as a camouflage outside the Great Plains, or Angola, Strichtarn can work extremely well as a fashionable urban surplus enjoyer’s camouflage.
